Xiaomi has confirmed a September debut for the Pad 9 Pro Max with its new XRING O3 processor, making it the company’s first tablet to use its in-house flagship chip. Notebookcheck describes the model as a premium tablet aimed at productivity.
The confirmation adds a larger tier to the Pad 9 lineup. So far, reports on the Xiaomi Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro have pointed to 11.2-inch LCD displays and 45W and 67W charging, respectively. The Pro Max is expected to move up to a 13.3-inch display, while earlier unofficial reports indicate 120W fast charging. Xiaomi has yet to reveal the tablet’s design or full specifications.
The processor is the bigger story. Xiaomi recently unveiled the XRING O3, a TSMC-built 3nm chip centered on a 10-core CPU clocked up to 4.35GHz. Xiaomi says it has more than 24 billion transistors, LPDDR6 support, and a 16-core G2-Ultra NX GPU with third-generation ray tracing.
For AI, Xiaomi says the redesigned NPU delivers 200 TOPS for on-device Xiaomi MiMo model processing. The company also claims an AnTuTu score above 5.2 million for the XRING O3. That is an eye-catching figure, but sustained power draw, thermals, and app optimization will matter just as much on a productivity tablet.
The Pad 9 Pro Max will not be the only XRING O3 device. Xiaomi has also confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Fold will launch in China in September with the chip, following earlier reports of a Xiaomi foldable powered by the new processor. For the Pad 9 Pro Max, only the September launch has been confirmed so far; pricing, memory configurations, and US availability remain unclear.
