HP just made a serious cut to the prices of the TouchPad tablet PC units… Thus, the 16GB and 32GB models cost $100 less, reaching $399 and $499 respectively. The price reduction follows a similar move from Acer, that made the 10 inch Iconia Tab A500 cheaper in the States.
The mass of iPad rivals is reacting in the same way this summer, with price reductions and special offers. 70% of non iPad tablets rely on Nvidia Tegra 2 processors and with Nvidia Tegra 3 getting so close, it’s time to get rid of the leftover units and cut prices. Also, we’re getting closer to the Back to School time frame, so expect further reductions.
Dell also has a recently launched Streak 10 Pro tablet PC, once again with Honeycomb 3.1 and Tegra 2 as the CPU. The 16GB Streak 10 Pro goes for $465, but it’s only available in China right now. We’re expecting it in the US, although we doubt it will make a big splash…
