We say “also”, because this is the third device cancelled (by rumours at least) this week, after the LG GW990 MeeGo smartphone and Microsoft’s Courier. HP’s Slate is apparently canned, or so claims a “source briefed on the matter”, as if this was reassuring or something. The problem seems to be the way Windows 7 runs on the tablet…
We remind you that HP Slate was officially announced by Steve Ballmer on stage in January, with a rumoured price tag of $549 and a presumed June launch date. Right now HP is busy with the whole Palm acquisition thing, so you shouldn’t expect too much feedback from them. All the company wanted to comment on the matter right now is… “no comment”.
A cancellation is still pretty weird, though…
