You’re probably wondering what Apple is launching in 6 hours from now, but odds are that you already know there’s a new iPad coming, or maybe even two. Well, today is October 16th and this means it’s time to witness another keynote, that may or may not bring some new iMacs and MacBooks as well.
It’s been a month since their last showcasing, that brought us the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, so now it’s time to get a fresh event. The iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3 will be the focus today, with the first rumored to have 2 GB of RAM and an Apple A8X CPU. Both are said to be thinner chassis, more powerful CPUs and cameras (probably 8 megapixel ones) and Touch ID fingerprint scanners. The Apple A8X should power them both and we may also get a slight bump in display quality.
Apple could also make the iPad Air 2 the slimmest large screen tablet on the market, descending below 7 mm or even 6.5 mm. They will have to be careful about this chassis, since it could be prone to another bendgate. Today we may also get fresh details about Apple Pay and also about iOS 8.1, according to rumors. We’ve also heard that the 16 GB version of the slates may be canned, in favour of a 32 GB minimum one.
Since both models are announced today, they could go live a week from now, so on October 24th, on a Friday. We also expect the release of OS X Yosemite, a new iMac and maybe the 12 inch Retina MacBook, that was already denied by sources close to Apple, but who knows? Excited for today’s event?
