We’ve seen quite a bunch of rugged tablets these days, including the GammaTech RT10C model, that’s pictured below. This model has just been launched and it packs a 10.2 inch touchscreen with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, an Intel Core i7-620UE mobile processor with integrated graphics and more hardware, that you’ll find after the break.
Two USB 2.0 ports are available here, as well as an Ethernet port, PCMCIA slot, two mini card slots and a CompactFlash slot. There’s also a VGA port, a serial port, WiFi and Bluetooth and the buyer of the GammaTech RT10C can choose between Windows 7 or Windows 7 Pro operating systems. You also get a fingerprint recognition system on this device and an optional Smart Card reader for security. Battery life should be around 5 hours of usage, with a nine cell Smart Lithium Ion battery.
This device is built under military 810G standards and gets IP65 certification for resilience to dust and water. The Gammatech gear is drop-proof, spill-proof, shock-proof and also resistant to dust plus water tight. I feel the need to call this an “industrial tablet”, although I can’t figure exactly why…
