In case you didn’t know, there’s a nifty way of getting the good old Honeycomb UI on your Galaxy Nexus, by triggering it from Ice Cream Sandwich. First of all, know that it’s not recommended you do so, asa you might break some of your handset’s features and they won’t even come back with a backup/restore…

This is pure theory and let’s leave it at that! Well, for one thing it’s the folks of Android Community who uncovered this, while  messing around the code in Android 4.0 on the phone. One of them used a rooted Nexus and decided to set the LCD density to a lower value to trick the device into believeing it has a 10 inch display. The result was that the Honeycomb UI popped up…

Everything is rudimentary and doesn’t even work that well, you must know that! To achieve this modification, you need a rooted Galaxy Nexus and a way of modifying the build.prop file in the /system/ folder. The Android Community guy opened the file in Root Explorer’s text editor and messed with the code. He found the “ro.sf.lcd_density” value and reset it to 160 or lower. Once you reboot the phone, you’ll have a genuine 4.65 inch Honeycomb tablet on your hands… not that you’d want such a thing.
