The Apple versus Samsung lawsuit has brought up some interesting documents, that show the evolution of Apple products over the years. Now the latest unveiling is a couple of Apple prototype from back in the days, that you can see below. There are iPad prototypes and iPhone prototypes and they’re quite a bit different from what we know today as Apple tablets and phones.
Apple and Samsung have a big court date coming up on July 30th and they must be at their best if they want to have the judge on their side. That’s why Apple brought its A game and went into the archive to pull out some prototypes. The most recent development shows that the iPhone was influenced by Sony products and the iPad originally had a kickstand. Other iPad models were widescreen units and some of the prototypes even had handles flanking the screen.
Back in the days of the Steve Jobs glory, he was obsessed with details, a fact revealed by these designs. His adoptive father told him that the backside of a product is as important as the front and he applied that philosophy to all the products. What’s interesting is that one of the older iPhone prototypes looked like the iPhone 4 and this means that some of these models may actually hold hints to future products. Will we ever see a widescreen iPad with a kickstand?! I hope not…
