We have written a lot about dual boot tablets, but never got to actually handle one. Well, today that happens as the Chuwi Vi8 gets unboxed in the video below. We’re dealing here with an 8 inch slate, that we managed to purchase for less than $100 on Gearbest.

The product is priced at $85 right now, which is certainly a bargain, since it brings you both Android 4.4 KitKat and Windows 8.1 on the same slate. Launched at the end of 2014 and hitting the shops earlier this year, the Chuwi Vi8 comes inside a regular cardboard box, that holds the manuals, USB cable, USB OTG cable and charger. The product has a pretty solid plastic case and measures 8 mm in thickness, while also weighing 350 grams.

It relies on a quad core Intel Atom Z3735F processor, clocked at 1.8 GHz and accompanied by 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. There’s an 8 inch IPS screen upfront, with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and a microSD card slot is in the mix too. We even get a mini HDMI port and bundled Office with this product. WiFi and Bluetooth are here, as well as a 5000 mAh battery, that on paper provides 5 hours of functioning time.

Finally, there’s a 2 MP main camera and a front 0.3 MP shooter. You can alternate between OSes with an Android button in the Windows taskbar and a Windows button in the KitKat dropdown area. More info will come with the full review.
