The lines between tablets and smart displays are blurred further at CES 2020. Lenovo just introduced a tablet that’s quite the mouthful: Smart Tab M10 FHD Plus 2nd Gen with Google Assistant. It works both as a regular tablet and as a Smart Display with Google Assistant.
The product follows in the footsteps of the Lenovo Smart Tab M10 and P10 introduced at CES 2019. Those were Android tablets that via docking could turn into Alexa-powered displays. Now, the new model has replaced Alexa with Google Assistant. Lenovo Smart Tab M10 FHD Plus 2nd Gen with Google Assistant can be placed on a docking station and then you can use its special Ambient Mode. There’s a specially tailored UI, used for talking and interacting with Google Assistant, not very different to what you’d find on the Google Nest Hub.
The slate itself has midrange specs, like a MediaTek Helio P22T processor, a 10.3 inch Full HD display and 2 or 4 GB of RAM. There’s also 32, 64 or even 128 GB of storage and a 5000 mAh battery. We also find stereo speakers here, dual microphones and a 5 MP front camera, as well as an 8 megapixel main shooter. There’s Face Unlock, Android 9.0 Pie in a pretty stock version and an USB-C port in the mix.
The product will launch in April 2020 with a price tag of $190.
