Slate shipments have reached 3.6 million units in Q2 this year, making this region one of the strongest growing in the world. Low cost Android devices are driving the growth here. The slates got 84% of the total CEE tablet market in the second quarter of the year, accounting for over 3 million shipments. iOS units decreased by 9.2% on year, while Windows RT and Win slates increased.
Interestingly enough, the CEE market witnessed a strong increase in Linux device numbers. Russia and Ukraine drove the growth with their white box tablets. The Central and East European region is all about the price and there are many Android slates with low prices here. By the end of 2013 the tablet market is expected to reach a volume of almost 15 million units shipped, a growth of 105% compared to 2012.
