ASUS has planned a big October 23rd event to unveil its US Windows 8 product lineup, but some details about the devices are already becoming available. Impatient retailers have already published preorder offers for devices like the dual screen ASUS Taichi 21 or the VivoBook X202, a 11.6 inch touchscreen laptop.

Taichi 21 has a basic version that includes a 11.6 inch display, a 1.7 GHz Core i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 128 GB SSD. The price for this one starts at $1,300, while an upgraded unit with a 1.9 GHz Core i7 CPU and a 256 GB SSD will set you back $1,600. The VivoBook X202 may get more purchases, since it costs a more affordable $600. For this price you get a 11.6 inch touchscreen, a 1.8 GHz Core i3 CPU, 4 GB of RAM and a standard 500 GB HDD.

Both of the machines will come with Windows 8 on October 26th, at the official launch of the OS and tablet. Back to the ASUS Taichi 21, this dual display convertible notebook runs Windows 8 Home Premium, in the 64 bit version and it’s less than an inch thick. It also has stereo speakers with Bang & Olufsen IcePower technology, dual HD cameras and two USB 3.0 ports.
