2015 was a bad year for tablets, even affecting iPad sales and ASUS sees this trend as continuing this year. They claim that it’s likely they won’t achieve growth over the next months and the firm just wants to break even.
Notebook shipments are expected to grow when it comes to ASUS and they may generate solid profits. Asustek shipped 5.9 million tablets last year and predicts the number to be between 5 and 6 million this year. 2 in 1 devices are big right now, convertibles and such, which is shown especially through the latest releases from Lenovo, Toshiba and even Huawei.
Q1 2016 is said to bring iPad shipments below 10 million units and 1 million for ASUS. In the meantime many white box tablet makers are leaving the market, especially since Intel cut subsidies for its CPUs used on slates. We’re expecting an ASUS new gen convertible any minute now…
