Archos 70b is a just announced tablet that prides itself with being the first under $200 Honeycomb slate. This model comes with Android 3.2, packs a capacitive touchscreen and a 1.2GHz processor. This device is very slim and light, it supports a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution and has 512MB of RAM available for working fine.

The slate supports WiFi connectivity, comes with HDMI output and a microSD card slot as well. Archos 70b has an affordable price, starting at $199 for 8GB and this gizmo is able to do smooth multitasking and a great web browsing experience. This tablet will be available in stores starting January and for this low price I’d say it’s a very good competitor for the Amazon Kindle Fire. Let’s see how well Archos sells its products, since it’s starting to become a bit like Samsung, with a ton of varied devices available.

Archos is seen as a pioneer in the portable video and audio player market and now it has focused on Android tablets. Let’s see how well they do, but right now I’d say they’re doing better than HP and RIM, that’s for sure…
