Amazon will be offering a fresh update for its Kindle models, that will change the way their homescreen looks. It’ll come this week and it will highlight the books you recently looked at, as well as your personalized reading list and recommendations.

The light button has gone away and now it’s hidden behind a “gear” option, that will provide you with quick access to other settings like airplane mode or syncing. Apparently, this is the biggest change applied by Amazon to its devices in many years now. Users will also be able to share quotes from books they’re reading straight on Facebook and Twitter.

Anyone who clicks on a quote will get a preview of the book it’s from and they’ll see it even if they don’t have an Amazon account. The company has also updated its recommended books strategy, so users can now add their favourite genres and review or rate certain books in order to tweak those suggestions. Models that will get the update are the Kindle Paperwhite 2013 and 2015, Kindle 2014 and Kindle Voyage (2014).
