After recent leaks of specifications and pictures of the two new Motorola XOOM 2 tablets, now we also have a supposed time frame for their launch. These models will apparently take off in November (the 8.2 inch model) and December (the 10.1 inch unit).
Last we heard, the 8.2 inch Motorola XOOM 2 was said t be a Media Edition tablet, focused on multimedia features. Both slates are very thin, especially in comparison with the original Motorola XOOM and they measure about 9.3mm in thickness, only a bit thicker than the iPhone 4. These are supposed to be 4G LTE devices, but their affiliation to Verizon and AT&T is yet unknown.
If I recall right, the Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha has previously said that Motorola will be launching two new LTE slates by the end of this year, so he got it right with the two new XOOM models. The holiday shopping season should bring them big sales, don’t you think? Most people are expecting Android Ice Cream Sandwich on these devices, but I wouldn’t guarantee that, unless Google unveils the OS in the following weeks.
