Lenovo has unveiled the new Tab Plus Gen 2, a multimedia-focused Android tablet designed around one key feature: sound. The device upgrades last year’s model with a nine-speaker JBL audio system, a larger 12.1-inch display, and new AI-powered features.

The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 features a 12.1-inch LCD panel with a 2.5K resolution (2560 × 1600 pixels), Dolby Vision support, HDR10 compatibility, and up to 800 nits of brightness in High Brightness Mode. Compared to its predecessor’s 11.5-inch screen, the new model offers a larger viewing area for movies, streaming services, and gaming.

Audio remains the tablet’s main selling point. Lenovo has equipped the device with a nine-speaker JBL Pro system optimized with Dolby Atmos. Users can switch between Dynamic, Movie, and Music sound profiles through Dolby Audio processing.

The tablet can also double as a standalone Bluetooth speaker, allowing users to stream music or podcasts directly from a smartphone.

Lenovo has redesigned the integrated kickstand, which now supports 360-degree rotation and multiple viewing modes, including portrait and landscape orientations. The company highlights dedicated Lean, Theater, Stand, and Hanging modes for different use cases, while a standby mode allows the tablet to function as a digital photo frame.

Under the hood, the Tab Plus Gen 2 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, paired with 6 GB, 8 GB, or 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. Storage can be expanded via microSD cards of up to 2 TB. A 10,200 mAh battery powers the device and promises up to 15 hours of YouTube streaming. Fast charging reaches 45 W, although Lenovo does not include a charger in the box.

The tablet ships with Android 16 and is scheduled to receive two major OS updates, bringing support through Android 18.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and a USB-C port limited to USB 2.0 speeds. Optional accessories include the Lenovo Tab Pen Plus stylus and the Lenovo Wireless Keyboard, both sold separately.

Despite its slim 6.8 mm profile, the tablet weighs 775 grams, while the integrated speaker housing increases the maximum thickness to 22.7 mm.

Price and availability

The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 is expected to launch soon across selected European markets with a starting price of €399.
