Samsung unveiled a new tablet this week, the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro model, which is a rugged unit with military certification. It was leaked before, so there aren’t that many surprises.
This robust machine features a 10.1 inch TFT LCD display with a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It also uses an unnamed 6 nm octa core processor, which is most likely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G, even though Samsung didn’t quite detail it. The device is available with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage or 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
There’s also microSD card storage expansion, a 7600 mAh replaceable battery, but you can also use the device sans battery, just connected to the charger and cable, even in a high temperature environment. The product is bundled with an S-Pen stylus and it’s quite generous in the field of connectivity, with support for GPS, 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, as well as NFC and a hybrid dual SIM.
For security we have a fingerprint sensor embedded in the Home key. It all weighs 674 grams and measures 10.2 mm in thickness. The product runs on Android 12 with the Samsung One UI on top. Both the Tab Active4 Pro and S-Pen have IP68 ratings and are protected from dust, dirt and sand. They can take being submerged in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 meters.
There’s also MIL-STD-810H certification for resilience to humidity, immersion, salt spray, dust, vibration and drops from 1 meter or 1.2 meters. The device will be available in “parts of Europe” in September plus Asia, Latin America, Nord America and Middle East.
