Last year, Lenovo debuted its ThinkPad X1 Yoga slate, bringing high end specs within the area of rotating convertibles. This time we see a similarly named device launched, but in the 2017 version. Thus, at CES 2017, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2017 was born.
The design of the device was inspired last year by the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, but it gives up a bit of the weight in favour of a higher performing digitizer pen and an OLED display that looks stunning. This is also a pretty tough device, since it’s built within military standards for transportation. Available in silver color, the 2017 edition weighs 3.3 lbs and this time it’s heavier than the X1 Carbon, but keeps the connectivity options.
We get 2 USB Type C ports with Intel Thunderbolt 3 action, 3 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, native RJ45, microSD and even microSIM. There’s a full size USB as well. Inside we can find the Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 GPU, aside from the basic Intel HD Graphics 620 and up to 16 GB of LPDDR3 RAM. The screen options are the same as on the predecessor, meaning two screem at Full HD or Quad HD res, with an excellent OLED or IPS panel.
This product is rated at 16 hours of battery life with the IPS screen or 10.5 hours of the OLED unit. An optional IR camera is here, plus a retractable cage around the keyboard to lock the keys in place in tablet mode.
