Many were surprised when the last round of leaks associated to the iPad Pro seemed to include a side port, aside from the one at the bottom. Now the same design is back, through a series of leaked cases, pictured via a Sonny Dickson leak.
Sonny Dickson has been a solid source of leaks over the years, revealing many Apple devices ahead of time. The iPad Pro keeps the general line of design of the current iPads and adds those extra stereo speakers at the top and bottom. The iSight camera and Touch ID button seem to keep their positions. The approach involving multiple ports isn’t exactly new, since the iPad 1G prototypes also had the same approach.
It’s not very clear if the side port, the extra one will be of the Lightning kind or an USB Type C. We can suppose it will be used for docking the slate into a keyboard accessory of sorts. The iPad Pro design will be similar to the one of the iPad Air, including the ultraslim casing and thin bezels. This time, the 12.2 to 12.9 inch slate will measure 7 mm in thickness, which is OK for this diagonal.
The chipset inside will be an Apple A8X, apparently.
