We have seen one or two images portraying the iPad Air 2 before, but this time we get one from Steve Hemmerstoffer, an editor over at Nowhereelse.fr. He posted it on Twitter and you can check it out below, with the Touch ID highlighted.
Previously analyst Ming-Chi Kuo told his client that all of the 2014 Apple hardware releases would feature a fingerprint scanner. This picture above shows an iPhone 5s on top of the new iPad Air, with the latter being wrapped in protective plastic. The Touch ID scanner is integrated in the Home button area, confirming we’ll get this feature on the 9.7 inch slate and probably on the new iPad Mini as well.
Frankly speaking, I would have expected the tablet’s bezel to be smaller, in line with recent design evolutions, but I guess this should work as well. Speculations say that we’ll also see the Apple A8 CPU on the iPad Air 2, a new 8 megapixel camera and probably more RAM. It’s not yet clear how the display and battery will evolve.
