We knew that Acer was preparing a slate device, specially because the company showed the world its project a while ago and we learned that the device will be based on Android 2.2. However, a recent Digitimes report shows that Acer might sit this one out and wait for Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) to be released, in order to implement it on the upcoming slate.
We don’t yet know what this means, in terms of specifications, but what’s certain is that Gingerbread will bring support for higher resolution displays, which is something all big companies will want to incorporate on their devices. As far as we know, Acer is going to launch its tablet next year, maybe in Q1, but there’s also a Windows 7 model coming before the end of 2010.
