The price game is on in the tablet market with the likes of Samsung taking prices down a notch, in order to rival their Chinese counterparts. Over the past 2 years the price norm for popular slates has dropped from $250 to $200 and recently even $150 or less.

Acer, Lenovo, ASUS, Google, Amazon and HP are all ready to below $200 in order to move more units. Some vendors even went close to the $100 mark at the end of 2013 hoping to score extra points. Samsung has yet to reveal prices for its recently announced Galaxy Tab 3 Lite family of products, but some say the price could be $129.

This is an aggressive pricing strategy, that’s bound to be replicated by Acer, ASUS, Lenovo and HP. We already have sub $300 Windows 8 slates with 8 inch screens, so it’s not all Android these days. However, on the Android market there’s already a battle of sub $100 slates in China, so there’s no limit here. And don’t get me started on the Indian slates that cost less than $50…
