Amazon is offering its Kindle Fire tablets an update to version 3.1 of the Fire OS. The platform gets deeper Goodreads integration and a feature called Second Screen, that allows you to “fling” video content from a Kindle Fire to a PlayStation 3 or Samsung HDTV.
Back in September when Amazon debuted the latest Kindle Fire tablets with the Fire OS software they also promised a new software for mid November, so here we area. The changelog includes Goodreads, a way to connect with the Goodreads community and follow friends in order to see what they’re reading, plus share and rate books on the Kindle Fire.
Users can organize content with Cloud Collections, that you will sync with compatible Kindle devices and reading apps. Smart Lookup is another interesting feature, that allows you to quickly look up words in the dictionary of Wikipedia or translate text in a book. There’s also the option to print from the Kindle Fire and 1 Tap Archive for freeing up storage on the device and moving it in the cloud.
Finally, there’s a new way to manage security certificates and connect to your company’s WiFi network, while you’re at home or at work, with remote VPN included.
