Sony Japan recently announced that the Xperia Tablet Z (SO-03E) slate will get an updated in August/September, that will introduce Full Seg digital TV support. Right now, the slate only supports One-Seg on NTT DoCoMo, but the Full-Seg addition will give it high def broadcasts in other versions.

This tablet is a 10.1 inch slate famous for its 6.9 mm waistline and it comes with a quad core 1.5 GHz CPU, the same CPU as the one on the Xperia Z. We also get 2 GB of RAM, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. There’s an 8.1 MP cam at the back with Sony Exmor R sensor and 32 GB of storage inside, while connectivity includes NFC and LTE.

This product is both dustproof and waterproof and as far as One Seg goes, this is a mobile digital audio/video and data broadcasting service that’s famous in Japan and some parts of South America. It all started in 2005 and picked up really fast in Japan. The idea is to get TV channels to people on mobile in the best format available and Xperia Tablet Z does that.
