2013 is the year when Full HD isn’t enough anymore, at least on tablets, so it doesn’t surprise me to see an Acer tablet with Retina Display resolution. It’s actually a mystery model, that just got uncovered thanks to a benchmark. You have all that details you need after the break.
We’re dealing here with a slate that packs the new quad core Tegra 4 CPU and supports a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. Acer has been releasing mostly budget slates this year, but Tegra 4 takes it to a new level. ASUS also debuted a new Transformer tablet with Retina Display at Computex, so Acer had to reply. Benchmarks show that this new Acer slate runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and it’s based on Tegra 4, that doesn’t seem to produce a very impressive benchmark score.
The score is basically double the one of the Nexus 7 with Tegra 3, so this is a powerful device. Of course, a benchmark doesn’t mean we’re going to see a finished product, since this could merely be a prototype after all. Anyway, the unit is called Acer TA272HUL and I have a feeling we’ll be hearing about it more in the future.
