It appears that Xplore Technologies Corp wants to capitalize on the fame of the brand new movie The Lone Ranger, featuring Johnny Depp and they’re launching a tablet under this name. The device is not associated with the film and it’s actually called The Lone RangerX tablet.
This is a fully rugged Android slate, that is adapted to both IP65 and MIL-TD 810G ratings, meaning it’s not meant for the casual user. Its target audience is service industries like utilities, energy, logistics, military and public safety. The product weighs 2.2 pounds, it’s based on a dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor and packs 32 GB of storage.
It runs Android 4.0 ICS and supports a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution on an IPS panel. It also has RFID and NFC capabilities, an optional module for Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI in connections and it will cost an impressive $1,349. The device can take a lot of abuse, as shown in the video below:
