We’ve been catching a glimpse of the future plans of ASUS lately, but only a glimpse as thev various leaks seem to contradict each other. We’ve heard of a $99 Nexus 7, one that uses a different CPU, a new MemoPad or two and now a Nexus 7 version with Intel Atom and Jelly Bean has leaked, or at least a device that sounds like it has: ASUS ME371MG.
We’re previously seen a picture taken with a mystery tablet codenamed ASUS ME172V and now another unusual model appears, ASUS ME371MG, through a Picasa leak. This device is supposed to be some sort of Nexus 7 version with an Intel Atom CPU, 7 inch display and a surprising picture resolution of 1536 x 2048, so it has a pretty good camera. The newcomer’s codename seems to fit in the Eee Pad MeMo range, since the original model had the code ME370T.
The focal aperture is 2.8 mm and the OS of choice is Android Jelly Bean here. After all, the original Nexus 7 was a remade MemoPad, right, so the rumor could be right in both accounts: this is both a Nexus 7 and MemoPad. Anyway, you should know that the slate packs an Intel Atom Z2420 1.2 GHz CPU, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage and a 7 inch IPS display with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. It also has WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth and there’s a 3G modem on board as shown by the “G” in the name of the device.
The rumored price for it is around 199 to 249 euro and we’re promised more details at CES 2013!
