ASUS Transformer Prime users could get the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update today and it appears it already started to roll out in Sweden. The Swedish branch of ASUS confirmed on Facebook that they will upgrade the device to Android 4.1 soon, with no information on when the update will come to other regions.
The good thing is that the product wasn’t offered by carriers, as far as I know, so updates should come faster this time. If I’m not mistaking, the Prime was actually the first device with Android and a quad core CPU, launching late last year. It’s still a beautiful and thin tablet, with a Tegra 3 CPU, bright screen and decent battery. It may have had its share of connectivity problems, but those are gone now and since the device is already aging, the price went down, so it’s a solid buy.
With a bright 10.1 inch display, 1 GB of RAM, quad core CPU and over 14 hours of battery life with the keyboard dock, this is a very good offer, especially considering it now gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. I also suppose it will enhance its speed and performance and generate better benchmarks. Also, it gets Google Now and the new notifications area.
