You may be aware of the fact that we’re testing the ASUS Transformer Pad 300 tablet these days, especially since we’ve shown you some benchmark results obtained from this device. Now we have a preview video to show you, detailing what’s inside the box of the slate and what the device can do in a first hands on.
This device is considered sort of a dumbed down Transformer Prime, since it replaces the metal case with a plastic one and opts for a 1.2 GHz quad core processor. It’s also cheaper, with a speculated price of 489 euros. The slate comes with a IPS screen with a 10.1 inch diagonal, 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and Android 4.0.3 out of the box. Our test unit has 16GB of storage, but the final one will provide 32GB. Also, the keyboard is optional when you purchase the slate, but I highly recommend you get it as well, since it shouldn’t be that expensive.
Other things worth mentioning are the 9.9mm thickness of the Transformer Pad 300, the 635 grams weigh and the lack of Gorilla Glass protection of the screen. Its battery provides 10 hours of functioning time and with the dock it can even reach 15 hours. More details about the performance of the device, various features and camera performance will be available in the full review, published in a couple of days.
