One year ago BGR reported that Amazon was working on two versions of the Kindle Fire tablet and in the end a 7 inch Tegra 2 model was launched. Now we’re waiting on that second tablet, that might be a 7 incher with upgraded specs or a 10 inch model with a more powerful CPU.
Meanwhile, just for the sake of stats, the Kindle Fire reached number 2 among the global tablet vendors in a mere half a quarter of availability. Now it’s rumored that the second Kindle Fire will be a 10 inch tablet with the quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset inside. Now reports say that the product will come in Q2 2012 and that production has already started for this larger unit. Amazon has yet to reveal any plans about this product, but Digitimes reported on Thursday that the company has started ordering chassis from Taiwanese firm Catcher Technology.
So, as said production is en route, but we don’t have any idea of the chassis measurements, so it could be a 7 inch more or a 10 inch model. If this is truly a 10 inch Tegra 3 tablet, will Amazon be able to price it under $300? I guess we’ll have to wait and see…
