Amazon’s new plans are bigger than just a Kindle Fire sequel, as they also include a 10 inch version of the tablet, launched later this year. The info comes from Digitimes, quoting the usual supply chain sources and reporting that Amazon is moving away from its original idea to launch an 8.9 inch Kindle Fire, relying instead on a 7 incher follow-up.
We have no idea what novelty this model brings, but a camera is the most likely candidate, as well as 4G LTE connectivity. There will also be a 10 inch unit launched at some point, that slate codenamed Hollywood, that I’m sure you’ve heard about last year before the first Kindle Fire was even launched. The new Kindle Fire and the 10 inch version are supposed to ship in the second half of 2012, with the price aim being lower than the $400 that Apple asks now for the iPad 2, since the New iPad was introduced.
Is the 10 inch Amazon tablet a quad core unit? Will it offer a 1080p display? We have no idea, but Amazon is certainly cooking something good, especially since their first product sold in the millions and they have all the reason to keep making it and launch sequels.
