Over the past week we’ve heard some rumors and details about the Surface 2, the new Surface RT tablet and the Surface Pro 2, the new Pro slate from Microsoft. However, all sources kept mentioning that there’s no Mini Surface on the roadmap, but that concept is back today.
Surface Mini is supposed to be an 8 inch tablet, that will not be unveiled later this month. Previous rumors said that the Surface 2 would use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, but that turned out to be false, as the device relies on a Tegra 4 CPU. The Surface Mini WILL use a Qualcomm CPU, so it all makes sense now.
The Surface Mini will run Windows RT 8.1 and we’re curious about the identity of the CPU and screen resolution. If you ask me, we’ll get a Snapdragon S4 Pro or Snapdragon 600 and a Full HD screen. Fingers crossed for this model to get a decent price, like a Mini tablet should in these modern times. Still, I doubt it will reach $199, the real decent amount to pay for a sub 10 inch slate.
