Just a couple of hours ago Sprint announced the ZTE Optik Honeycomb tablet, a 7 inch device that’s pictured below. This product will be available on February 5th, with a price of $99.99 on a 2 year contract with Sprint.

ZTE Optik is the first tablet by this Asian device maker in North America, so it’s a welcome premiere, for the sake of variation. Optik comes with a dual core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, 16 GB of internal storage, 1 GB of RAM, a microSD card slot, a 4,000 mAh battery and a main 5 megapixel camera. There’s also a 2 megapixel front camera and if you don’t lik contracts, you can get the ZTE Optik for $349.99 free of commitment.

The slate is available preloaded with services and apps such as Sprint Zone, Sprint TV, Sprint Music Plus, Sprint Navigation, Sprint Football Live and NASCAR Sprint Cup MobileSM. I wonder how long it will take for this model to receive Android 4.0…
