Well, the title of “world’s thinnest tablet” is thrown around a lot these days, with the iPad Air 2 starting the war, only for us to find out that the Dell Venue 8 7000 is actually thinner, by 0.1 mm. Today we have a new model that may claim to at least be the second or third thinnest slate on the globe: Hisense Vidaa Pad.
This device has a waistline of just 6.1 mm and it was recently unveiled. Going by the full name of Hisense VIDAA PAD F5281, this Android tablet has stereo speakers, a microUSB port, a microSD card slot, front and rear cameras and it comes in grey, brown, gold and red. We don’t have any info regarding CPU, battery life, memory or other hardware features, but personally I expect this one to be an affordable tablet.
I’m guessing it will cost less than $350, unless it doesn’t pack some high end MediaTek processor inside. The speakers on board are quite a big deal, since the tablet makers don’t usually bother with a comfy placement of said speakers or even to implement two instead of one.
