The slate will feature a quad core MediaTek processor, an unknown model, but most likely the MT6589T. Foxconn will handle the manufacturing and apparently they have already worked on the device for the past months and now they’re ready for mass production. Previously, The Xiaomi tablet was supposed to pack a Tegra 4 1.5 GHz CPU, but now it dropped to MediaTek.

Of course this allows for a lower price and you should expect more interesting decisions of this kind over the next months, as Hugo Barra, who migrated from Google to Xiaomi enters his position at the company. His first initiative is enhancing the MIUI system and making it future-proof.
