Xiaomi appears to be gearing up to release a compact high-end tablet for the global market, and it may come in the form of the Xiaomi Pad Mini. According to a recent leak on Weibo, the device is expected to be a rebranded version of the Redmi K Pad, which launched in China earlier this year with impressive flagship-level specs. The move positions Xiaomi to compete directly with the iPad Mini, offering a more affordable yet powerful alternative in the compact tablet space.

If the global version stays true to the original, the Xiaomi Pad Mini will feature an 8.8-inch LCD display with a 3K resolution and an ultra-smooth 165Hz refresh rate. It’s powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage — specs rarely seen in this size class. The tablet houses a 7,500mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging, and supports Dolby Atmos stereo speakers for an immersive media experience. Running HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, the device also includes dual USB-C ports, a 13MP rear camera, and an 8MP selfie shooter.

While an exact release date has yet to be confirmed, the tablet’s recent appearances on the TDRA and IMDA certification databases suggest that a global launch is imminent. If priced competitively, the Xiaomi Pad Mini could easily become one of the most appealing compact Android tablets of 2025.
