Xiaomi has introduced the Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro in China, building its tablet lineup around 3.2K, 144Hz LCD displays and Qualcomm Snapdragon processors rather than Xiaomi’s in-house Xring O3 chip used in the previously announced Pad 9 Pro Max. Both tablets run HyperOS 4 and support optional keyboard and stylus accessories aimed at productivity work as well as media and gaming.
A larger, more capable Pro model
The 12.5-inch Pad 9 Pro is the more performance-focused option. Its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor is paired with a graphite cooling system covering more than 22,000 square millimeters; Xiaomi says the tablet exceeds 3.4 million points in AnTuTu. The slate has an 11,000mAh battery, up from 9,200mAh in the prior Pad 8 Pro, with 67W wired charging and 22.5W reverse charging for topping up another device such as a smartphone.
Its 3.2K LCD reaches 1,000 nits of peak brightness, an increase from 800 nits on the Pad 8 Pro, and includes DC dimming plus TÜV Rheinland eye-care certification. Xiaomi also expands the audio system from four speakers to six, while four microphones are intended for video calls and conferencing. The tablet measures 5.8mm thick and weighs 580 grams.
Pad 9 keeps the compact tablet formula
The standard Pad 9 uses an 11.2-inch 3.2K LCD with adaptive refresh rates up to 144Hz, 1,000-nit peak brightness, 12-bit color, and DCI-P3 color coverage. It also carries blue-light reduction and flicker-free certifications. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, the same chip used by the preceding generation.
At 5.75mm thick and 485 grams, the Pad 9 is the more portable of the pair. Its 9,720mAh battery supports 45W charging, with Xiaomi claiming up to 14.5 hours of video playback or 20 hours of online meetings. Other hardware includes four Dolby Atmos speakers, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, a 50-megapixel rear camera, and a 13-megapixel front camera.
Both models can be configured in a Soft Light Edition, which adds a screen treatment intended to cut reflections. HyperOS 4 also brings near-PC versions of WPS and CapCut Pro, and the tablets support Xiaomi’s Focus Stylus Pro and a keyboard accessory.
