It’s been a minute or so since Xiaomi unveiled a tablet, but now they’re ready to launch a bunch of new Mi Pads. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 is incoming, according to the latest rumors and today we have a new leak, if we can call it that. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 has been certified by the FCC and we learn new details about it.
The device appeared with the codename 21051182G in the FCC database, confirming details like the presence of MIUI 12.5 on board and 22.5W charging. It also has dual band Wi-Fi and that’s sadly where all the details stop. Last week there was a MIIT certification for the device, in a Mi Pad 5 Pro version apparently, with 5G connectivity in the mix and a Snapdragon 870 CPU. That version packs an 11 inch IPS LCD display with 120 Hz refresh rate and a large resolution, of 2560 x 1600 pixels.
The screen will support 4096 levels of pressure and should make good use of a Xiaomi stylus. The basic Mi Pad 5, which is expected to run on a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 CPU was also leaked at some point with a 8250 mAh battery. A keyboard case was also spotted online in a CNIPA listing. The new Mi Pads are expected to drop later this month. There was talk at some point of MIUI being forked into a MIUI Pad OS version, much like Apple did with iOS and Huawei kind of did with HarmonyOS.
