Xiaomi has been no stranger to crowdfunding action for laptops, watches and a few more products and now they’re tackling a kid oriented device. It’s called Xiaoxun and it’s a pretty nifty learning tool with a 16 inch diagonal. It’s a color LCD tablet by the way.
I’ve seen quite a few tech outfits directing their business towards the kids/education segment lately, on account of school being moved at home during the pandemic. Home schooling requires proper tools and that’s exactly what we’re dealing with here. Xiaomi already had the Mijia LCD Digital Drawing Tablet and now it’s crowdfunding the Xiaoxun 16 inch Color LCD Tablet, via the company’s own crowdfunding platform, Youpin. The slate can be used for drawing, learning, calculus and taking notes.
It can display 3 colors: blue, yellow and green, which is quite the upgrade from the Mijia LCD Digital Drawing Tablet, that only showed one single color. Xiaoxun comes with a steel stylus that attaches magnetically to the side of the tablet, like the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite stylus does. Pressure support is also here, influencing the thickness of lines when drawing. There’s a singular button at the bottom of the screen, which lets you erase everything shown on the display.
Also, there’s a lock on the side that disables said button. The battery inside is a coin CR2025 unit, that should last up to 2 years, so that’s a huge selling point. The product is made of ABS polycarbonate The device is priced at just $28 right now on the Youpin Store and sadly there are slim chances we’ll see this unit outside China.
