Brandon Watson, one of Microsoft’s main men, the head of the Windows Phone Developer Experience has just left the boat, going to Amazon. He will be Director of the Kindle Cross Platform team, a pretty fine job, if you ask me. He’ll be working on the product development roadmap for Kindle apps on first and third party platforms.

Windows Phone and Windows 8 apps will be included and I bet that Brandon’s expertise will come in handy. Meanwhile, all Microsoft said about this news is that February 6th is Watson’s last day at MS and that he did a great job. Meanwhile, you must know that Windows Phone has been leaking specialists, with former Windows Corporate VP of Strategy Mike Nash also leaving the team. Are we to expect a Microsoft – Amazon partnership after all these moves? After all, this is how it started with Nokia and look where we are now, closer than ever to a buyout, although both Nokia and MS deny it.

The good thing here is that all of the Kindle apps will benefit from Brandon’s experience and community connections, so the software will evolve in the right direction. I expect the next Kindle Fire tablet to have an even more evolved ecosystem and platform, since the first was a bit too basic…
