How about tuning your car in front of your eyes using an augmented reality app on your tablet or phone. Well, that’s what Volkswagen did, by showing off a new augmented reality maintenance and support servicing interface on a tablet.
The augmented reality software is meant for the new 2014 Volkswagen XL1 concept car. The UI is called Mobile Augmented Reality Technical Assistance (MARTA) and it was developed together with Metaio, a big name in the augmented reality market, who has been there from the start of it. Using this tech, you can rely on virtual service manuals or step by step instructions shown on screen as you work on the car in front of you and see it stripped down in the app.
