Vivo is doubling down on premium Android tablets with the launch of the Vivo Pad 5, a sleek and powerful slate that joins the brand’s S30 smartphone lineup in China. Positioned as both a productivity tool and entertainment hub, the Pad 5 packs cutting-edge hardware in a minimalist, all-metal body that’s just 6.62mm thick and weighs a comfortable 590g. The headliner here is the 12.1-inch LCD screen — offering a 2.8K resolution (3096×2064), a 144Hz refresh rate, and up to 900 nits of peak brightness, all in a cinematic 16:10 aspect ratio.

Powering the Pad 5 is MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9300+, a 4nm SoC paired with the Immortalis-G720 GPU, designed to handle everything from fast-paced games to AI productivity apps. Thermal management is handled by a large 34,200mm² superconducting 3D vapor chamber, keeping performance steady during extended sessions. The tablet comes in multiple configurations, starting at 8GB RAM with UFS 3.1 storage, and scaling up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 — making it one of the fastest Android tablets in its class.

On the software side, Vivo is going all in with OriginOS 5 based on Android 15, customized for large displays. It includes desktop-style productivity tools like WPS Office and CAJViewer, catering especially to students and professionals handling academic documents. The Pad 5 is also equipped with an 8MP rear camera for scanning and casual shots, plus a 5MP front-facing camera for video calls and biometric login.

Battery life looks impressive on paper — there’s a 10,000mAh cell under the hood, which Vivo claims can sit on standby for up to 62 days. It supports 44W fast charging via USB-C. Audio comes courtesy of a six-speaker setup, and connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, USB-C, and NFC.

The Vivo Pad 5 is now available for pre-order in Blue, Grey, and Pink, with Chinese retail availability starting June 6. Prices start at 2,399 yuan (\~\$330) for the 8GB/128GB version and go up to 3,499 yuan (\~\$480) for the maxed-out 16GB/512GB configuration. Accessories like the Smart Touch Keyboard (599 yuan), Vivo Pencil 3 (499 yuan), and Smart Folio case (199 yuan) are sold separately.
