After NVIDIA showed the world a very interesting tablet, it’s time for VIA to start messing with this market segment. Apparently, the company is readying not one, but five models, with prices from $100 to $150 and all of them running Android. Richard Brown, VIA’s VP of marketing claims that in spite of the Apple iPad popularity, VIA stands a chance on the tablet market.

Hardware specs are unknown for now, but we don’t expect to be surprised with high end features, considering the prices. Speculations claim that VIA will launch devices with resistive touchscreens and focused on web access and multimedia playback.

Brown claims that the first tablet will hit the US in 2H 2010, with a price of $100. We cannot help but wonder if these devices will run Android 2.2 Froyo or maybe even Gingerbread…
