Turkish Prime Minster Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has recently been tasked with selecting either Apple or Google to provide the Turkish government with 10.6 million tablets. The minister is on a tour in USA trying to make that decision.

The iPads or Android slates will be used in the latest Turkish education project. I must also mention that Erdogan also visited Microsoft’s CEO, Steve Ballmer and then paid visits to Apple and Google. It’s interesting that the official claimed that they want to produce 10 million tablets, not exactly mentioning if he’s going to buy them or not.

The Turkish FAITH program is all about moving education forward and distribute tablets to schools. Textbooks and blackboards will be replaced by the new devices, in order to boost the country’s education system. Turkey won’t accept bids until May 27th and so far the prime minister has received offers from GM, Samsung and two Turkish companies, Arcelik and Vestel.
