Every consumer electronics manufacturer has to choose a mascot at some point to benefit from the costumer’s admiration and make a positive image that is easily recognized by everyone. The Japanese market is one very complex and the main source for high-end devices, with many world acknowledged brands present.
TabletMan is the name chosen by manufacturer Toshiba to represent them on the Japanese market. With it Toshiba hopes to win the hearts of consumers through it’s original look and strange design. Looking like borowed from a SF movie prop scene, the mascot has been built entirely from tablets.
The thematic for designing TabletMan is a representation of the future, with the manufacturer encouraging costumers to record short messages that they want to send to their future versions. The mascot was set free to wonder the streets of Singapore and let the curious eyes interact with the tablets built into it’s design.
