Microsoft may be happy with announcing the Mango OS update for WP7 this week, but on the tablet side they’re not so happy. Toshiba has announced that it will give up the plans for a Win 7-based slate. They’re probably waiting for Windows 8, that looks promising as far as interaction and UI are concerned.
It’s strange that Toshiba would cancel a product that was already available for pre-order and scheduled for June shipping. A reason could be the fact that Toshiba is also launching an Android 3.0 tablet next month with Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU, so it doesn’t want to confuse the public. The 10.1 Android device is already up for pre-order in the States and it was shown at CES earlier this year.
Toshiba could have canceled the product due to poor pre-orders and considering the Win 7 experience on such devices, this doesn’t surprise us. Windows 8 can’t come soon enough…
