It seems like there’s a neverending string of bad luck for the Surface products from Microsoft. Their latest infamous firmware update for the Surface Pro 2 has been pulled, following a series of problems that it caused.

Many Surface Pro 2 users who have updated their devices recently claim have took to the Microsoft support pages demanding the removal of the update. That’s a bad piece of PR ahead of Christmas… Some of the users are reporting that the update didn’t install correctly in spite of numerous tries, while others who managed to perform the update faced battery charging issues and problems putting the device to sleep or shutting it down.

Overheating has also been mentioned a few times. The update was published via Windows Update on December 10th and now MS is working on releasing an alternate package but only after the holidays. Guess you’re stuck with both your drunk uncle and a non responsive Surface Pro 2 at the cabin this Christmas…
