It seems that Sony is taking strides in bringing Android Nougat to its most famous devices, so after seeing Android 7.0 on the Xperia XZ and X Compact, it’s now headed to older models. For example, the Xperia Z5 is about to get this treatment, plus the Xperia Z4 Tablet, it seems.

Traces about the software package have appeared online, as the update has been certified by PTCRB, which is a wireless device certification forum with North American carriers at its helm. The update takes the build number from 32.2.A.5.11 to version 32.3.A.0.372. We don’t know from sure when the rollout will begin, but Sony has been moving fast with its phones over the past months.

The Xperia Z4 Tablet dates from back in 2015, so it’s nice to see it getting some love. Sony has been out of the tablet game for a while now, which is too bad, because some its slates had some serious media firepower and the PS4 Remote Play was a selling point. Android Nougat should bring split screen multitasking on the Xperia Z4 tablet, Doze on the Go, a revamped Notifications/Quick Settings area, quick app switch and the 3D Touch-style extra menus.
