Today, Sharp announced the development of a 7-inch tablet that comes in the package with a MEMS-IGZO display, device that will be launched in the first half of 2015. We get to know that Sharp managed that through combining the Qualcomm’s MEMS technology with the IGZO to create a display with a higher color reproducibility and with a lower power consumption that a regular LCD display.

By using such a display, the tablet can offer a grayscale display in order to offer a lot more autonomy. While the IGZO technology is responsible for showing up great colors on the display, the MEMS technology (Micro Electric Mechanical Systems) is delivering high-quality images with a lower power consumption with thin film optics.

This tablet will offer a 7-inch WXGA display panel with a 1.280 x 800 pixel resolution, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, front and rear cameras, LTE, 3G, and Wi-Fi connectivity. We also get Android 4.4.4 KitKat as default operating system and a waterproof certification.
