Samsung Electronics has been working on 12 inch tablets, we know that much, especially after getting proof from various Bluetooth authorities and the FCC. We’ve also heard numerous rumors about a maxi Galaxy Tab/Note and today we get a confirmation from Taiwan makers.
The 12.2 inch slate will adopt a film-based capacitive touch solution provided by Chinese company Shenzhen O-film Tech, with production meant to start at the end of 2013, according to Taiwanese supply chain makers. Samsung will also use in house memory, panels and assembly apparently. It’s expected that their big tablet will start a new trend followed by rivals like Acer, ASUS and Lenovo.
The likes of Toshiba and Lenovo have already been messing with 13 inch slates, but without success. However, a Galaxy Note 12 incher with Snapdragon 800 inside, a compact design and Air Gesture/Command/Multi window gimmicks may be much more appealing, especially if the price is right.
